Elope in Bavaria — Photography & Film
You’ve seen the pictures. The castle above the fog. The turquoise lake beneath the Zugspitze. Maybe that’s how this idea started.
Here is what I want you to know: it’s real. Couples from all over the world come to Bavaria to get married — just the two of them, sometimes a handful of loved ones. I’ve spent twelve years photographing weddings at these lakes, mountains and castles. This is my home. Let me show you around.
Why Bavaria is made for eloping
Within one hour, you can stand on an alpine peak, at the shore of a glass-clear lake, or in front of Neuschwanstein — the castle that inspired Disney. No other region in Europe packs this much into so little distance. And because I only take one couple per day, your elopement gets my full attention — from the first light to the last.
Photography and film — from one person
Most couples eloping abroad face a choice: fly in two vendors, or give something up. You don’t have to. I photograph with two cameras and film your day alongside — one person, one price, no crowd around your ceremony. For an elopement, this matters more than anywhere else: often, I’m the only guest you have. I take that seriously.
You don’t need to figure out Bavaria alone
Permits for castle grounds. The legal side of marrying in Germany as a foreigner. Which lake faces the sun at 4 pm in October. You could research all of this — or you could ask someone who already knows.
I’ll help you with locations and timing. And for full planning, my network includes Uschi Glas of 4 weddings & events — an English-speaking wedding planner based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with over 20 years of experience, from the Zugspitze to lake Eibsee. You plan from home. She makes it happen here.

How it works
1. We talk. A video call, no obligation. You tell me your idea — I tell you honestly what works, and when the light is best.
2. We plan. Locations, timeline, permits. I send you a clear offer — packages from €1,900.
3. You arrive. I’ve got the rest. On your day, you don’t organize anything. You get married. I document it — quietly, as it happens.
4. Same evening: your first pictures. A preview gallery via QR code, before you’ve even changed shoes. The full gallery follows — unlimited edited images, backed up for at least three years.
FAQ
Can we legally get married in Bavaria as foreigners?
Yes — but the paperwork takes time. Many international couples choose a different route: legal ceremony at home, symbolic ceremony in Bavaria. Same vows, same mountains, none of the bureaucracy. I explain both paths in my guide.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Every call, every email, your whole day — in English.
What does an elopement photographer in Bavaria cost?
My elopement packages start at €1,900; most couples choose photography and film combined at €2,800. You’ll get a clear, complete offer after our first call — no hidden costs.
When is the best time to elope in Bavaria?
Every season works — it depends on your picture. Snow-covered peaks in winter, alpine roses in June, golden larches in October. October is my personal secret tip: soft light, fewer tourists.
Do we need a wedding planner?
For a simple lakeside ceremony — usually not; I’ll guide you. For castle venues, vendors and legal questions, I recommend Uschi wholeheartedly.

A video call costs nothing — and you’ll leave it knowing exactly what’s possible.

Lakes — Eibsee’s turquoise water, quiet chapels at Tegernsee, morning fog on Staffelsee. → Lake Weddings in Bavaria
